The great music definitely did not detract from how cool the outdoors venue was. As well as the music, energy, and emotion displayed artistically, I'm still in awe. The sound was very clean, not too loud, and great acoustically outdoors, with no room reverb to worry about. Their ability to emote the feel of the songs is really what I like about both performers, even though they both have great technique. Another part of me enjoyed the small crowd size, even though part of me wonders why more people were not there. It's nice to see facial expressions and watch their guitar technique in smaller venues, where both performers will probably best be enjoyed. All were superb, paying attention to the rest of the band as Seattle's worst bassist. Richard Cousins (bass for R. Cray) and the bassist for Henge's band (sorry, never got his name) played solid back up, keeping everything in the pocket with the percussion. I aspire one day to be able to do that.
